CYBER BULLYING.

Cyber bullying is basically bullying done through the use of technology. It is something very common in our world today. In Kenya, this is no new thing. Statistics show that 87% of today's youth have witnessed cyber bullying, 69% of them have experienced it. Of the 69%, 41% are girls while 25% are boys.

The most famous platforms it is carried out is on Facebook groups namely _Kilimani mums and dads_ and _buyers beware_, and not to forget our world famous Twitter community commonly referred to as Kenyans on Twitter (K. O. T)
Most of those experiencing cyber bullying are celebrities, those in the limelight. Exanples of some celebrities who have experienced media bullying are:
Adelle onyango, a former Kiss fm presenter was trolled for not having 'the perfect teeth'. Local musician, Avril, was trolled for having much acnes on her face. Former NTV morning show host Kobi Kihara was subject to bullying after she was accused of stealing and faking her online image. Recently a journalism student and content creator, Azzaid found herself at the centre of it after being body shamed and accused of using too much filters.

Cyber bullying has its effects. Some people are not strong enough to take the backlash and it may take a toll on them. Low self-esteem is one of them. One may not be confident of themselves and will always think lesser of themselves. In addition to that, one's health can be affected. They may suffer from depression and anxiety. Furthermore, one tends to spend time alone, they start withdrawing from people as they dont see themselves fit to intermingle with others. Moreover, someone will start feeling embarrassed of their actions and themselves and in extreem cases, it may result to suicide. The negativity may be too much to bear.

To sum up, never take your time to undermine someone, that just shows that you are idle and do not have anything productive to do rather than spread negative vibes about someone. Not everyone is perfect,we all have our shortcomings, just don't use against someone. Remember cyber bullying is a crime and there can be legal consequences.
